Re: Not all Epson Perfection scanners are alike...

You're right, Lyle. I haven't looked at the Epson scanner information in several years. At one time, the word Perfection indicated the kind of optical scanning the device used, CIC or CCD. It now appears that's no longer true. Although products like the V19 are called Perfection, it appears it no longer uses the same scan electronics. Apparently, the responsibility for assigning model numbers has changed, at least for products primarily intended for the EU market. Also, not all Perfection products are sold or serviced in USA any more.

Please ignore my post as it makes statements about Epson Perfection scanners that are no longer true. You will have to research further to find which of their products will work best for scanning chips, tokens, and coins (any colored 3-d objects in fact).

Fortunately, my Epson V500 scanner (which was the first non-HP scanner I owned) still works fine. I was able to find a replacement pressure pad for it in the US when mine was damaged. I wish they still made them but apparently they aren't even available Refurbished by Epson any more.

Thanks for the info from other posters who pointed out that "Perfection" may no longer mean "Perfect for scanning chips".

Don, my V500 is about 8 or 9 yrs old and
I agree. But the biggest reason is it's rugged.
