I was the big blind in heads up for the championship. With over $100,000 tournament chips as BB, and a very disappointing hand, I thought I would raise, but was snapped called by my opponent.
Then, the flop was delightful for me -- checking and he checked.
Turn card, provided him a royal flush draw. So, he bet a small amount hoping to at lease catch another club. I called. River card gave me a full house and it was also a club. I checked and he went all in saying, "sorry, but you let me get there!"
I called hoping he didn't connect with the Jack of Clubs.
He then announced he had a nut flush, and was starting to rake the pot and take congratulations for winning the week-long tournament. I showed the full house -- and my opponent went ballistic -- muttering aloud "no one plays and 8-5 off suit," as he kicked the table from underneath scattering all the chips.
Well, that's my one of my lucky days and a cherished moment.
Just a remembrance!
