1972 - 1976 . Actually spent about two of my four years in aboard Navy ships. I was part of the Marine contingent aboard different ships (not boats) floating around waiting for hot spots and we would be the first boots on the ground where ever. A lot of time from Okinawa, Japan to Subbic Bay, Philippines. Second time was throughout the Med Sea for a number of months floating around visiting different port of calls. Worst part of the Med duty was we left North Carolina aboard a LST which is a smallish flat bottomed ship.
