Last night, a happy experience at Ocean's Eleven in Oceanside.
Stopped in after a Chinese buffet next door and spotted some new, shinier $1 and $5 chips, so I bought a stack of ones to see them up close. They were indeed newer and shinier than the older $1 chips. Found six of the newer ones out of 20 dollar chips. But if it was a re-order, the design and coloration were the same as the older ones, so not a new issue. Just nice looking.
After pocketing the six "old new" chips and cashing in the others, I paused at a blackjack table just to watch the action (and to see if there were anything other than the old house $5 chips being played). A lady placed a $15 bet and won. She said, "Let it ride," and won again. She again pushed out all her chips, and hit blackjack. Her husband was standing behind her, marveling at her luck. Now she pushed out her growing stack of chips. The dealer was also incredulous asking, "Are you sure you want to do that?" "Yes," replied the lady, "I always let 'em ride, and tip well."
Well, I cross my fingers and, dang! - She beats the dealer again. We all applaud. Madame High Roller pushes out her stack and says, "Go for it." The dealer again advises, "Are you sure?" Well, she hits again, and again, and finally bets her whole
$150 stack. And, blam! Blackjack again!
I wouldn't try speaking in Las Vegas (you get kicked out for that) but the vibe here was congenial and casual, so I mentioned to the husband, "I'd cash in right about now." And the lady thought about it and said, "Good idea," and to the dealer, "Give me $100 chips, please." And she walked away with $300 - plus, not bad for a few minutes. But I almost had a coronary watching all this.

ONCE AGAIN I REFER TO A LONG HARVEST TRIP THAT TOOK IN THE ENTIRE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING. THIS WAS ONE OF MY MORE PRODUCTIVE TRIPS THROUGH THE SOUTHLAND. NANCY AND I HAD LEFT THE AMELIA BELLE RIVER BOAT EARLIER IN THE DAY AND IT WAS RAINING OFF AND ON ALL THE WAY UP TO CHARENTON, LA. WHEN WE GOT THERE WE MARVELED AT THE SIZE OF THIS LITTLE KNOWN CASINO.
IT WAS KNOWN AS THE CYPRESS BAYOU CASINO WHEN IT WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT, BUT THEY HAD ADDED TO IT, AND ADDED TO IT; WAS KIND OF LIKE THE WINCHESTER HOUSE IN SAN JOSE, CA. HUGE SECTIONS ADDED TO IT FROM EVERY DIRECTION. WHICH INCLUDE A HUGE BUS CENTER, NOT JUST THE PARKING AREA FOR BUSES BUT A TERMINAL FOR PASSENGERS AND PEOPLE TO GIVE THEM INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR RETURN TRIPS, ETC.
AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT WE PARKED THE FARTHEST WE COULD OF FROM THE POKER ROOM. AND WE WALKED, AND WE WALKED UNTIL WE FOUND THE POKER ROOM. AND YEAH YOU GUESSED IT I SAT DOWN AFTER A SHORT WAIT AND NANCY HEADED TOWARDS THE KITTY GLITTER SLOTS…LOL.
I GOTTA SAY IT WAS A WELCOME BREAK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY TO SIT IN A FAIRLY TAME HOLDEM GAME. I DID WELL IN THE GAME, SPENT SOME TIME SORTING OUT WHAT I NEEDED AND SINCE THEY HAD BOTH RACKS OF CHIPS ON THE TABLE (CYPRESS BAYOU & SHORTY’S) I HAD TWICE AS MUCH TO SORT. ALONG THE WAY I ASKED THE PIT BOSS WHAT THE RULES WERE ABOUT TAKING SOME CHIPS OFF THE TABLE AND POCKETING THEM. THEY DID NOT HAVE A TROUBLE WITH THAT AS LONG AS I BOUGHT BACK THE SAME AMOUNT OR CLOSE TO IT TO REPLACE THE “HARVESTED CHIPS”, SO I DID AS THE ASK. THIS WAS A GREAT HARVEST. FINALLY, I GOT UP AND SAID ( I WAS BREAKING EVEN) FOLKS IT HAS BEEN REAL AND IT HAS BEEN FUN; BUT I CANNOT SAY IT HAS BEEN REAL FUN. I LAUGHED AND THEY ALL CHIMED IN AND SAID, C-YA NEXT TIME…REGGIE http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=LACHCB

I am always trying to put things together that have some semblance of balance. Of course, that will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some of these may attract you the collector a little or a lot, no matter which way it attracts, please know I am always trying to help you out, with items you want at price that is fair. For now, I am going to do them every week, but as an unscheduled surprise feature…Thanks for looking. Reggie
If you have some ideas about compatible pairs please send them in to me. If it is possible and I happen to have the two, they will be put on the docket...reg

THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS TO SELL CHIPS, I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DETERMINING WHICH IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE FOR A MEDIUM SIZE COLLECTION WITH A LOT OF EXTRAS. OF COURSE THIS IS PRE PLANNING ON MY PART. I HAVE SOLD CHIPS IN VARIOUS WAYS, BUT NEVER STOPPED LONG ENOUGH TO FIGURE EFFECTIVENESS.
Postcards shown below are all duplicates and cheaper, especially if you buy the two listed, for the current POD. There will be a minimum postage charge of $1. Multiple cards p/h will be determined at time of sale.
#13 Rio $1, Riviera $2 Both $2
MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN. AND WHEN I STARTED DOING “A PAGE A DAY” I INCLUDED BETTER SETS AS A CATEGORY.
Gold Street $8.50 D'wood, SD
IT HAS BEEN VERY HARD FOR ME TO KEEP TRACK OF 50 STATES, CANADA, THE CARIBBEAN, WET CHIPS AND MY SPECIAL COLLECTION (CHIPS WITH CARDS ON THEM). I PLAN ON CUTTING THE STATES DOWN TO ABOUT SEVEN + OR -; PLUS, MY SPECIAL COLLECTION (CHIPS WITH CARDS ON THEM) AND CANADA. I HAVE NOT DECIDED WHAT TO DO ABOUT MY WET CHIPS, I LIKE THEM AND ENJOY CRUISING SO, THEY MAY BE A KEEPER.
WHAT YOU SEE BELOW IS WHAT I HAVE SETTLED ON SELLING. ALL OF THE STATES HAVE BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED AND PRICED. I AM NOT HOLDING OUT ANY CHIPS OF THE STATES, EXCEPT A FEW OF THE CHIPS WITH CARDS ON THEM. IF I CAN FIND SOME OF THESE CHIPS IN MY INVENTORY OR PAGES I WILL ADD THEM IN.
I WILL BE FEATURING ONE STATE PER PAGE OF THE DAY IN THE FUTURE. PLEASE, NO CHERRY PICKING REQUESTS, UNTIL I BREAK DOWN THE STATES INTO INDIVIDUAL CHIPS. IT WILL BE TWO YEARS BEFORE I BREAK ANY OF THE LARGER STATES AND WHEN I DO I WILL MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT. ANOTHER MANNER OF MARKETING MAY BE BY CASINO AFTER I BREAK THE STATE UP, I MAY OFFER COMPLETE OR INCOMPLETE GROUPS/SETS FROM INDIVIDUAL CASINOS. ALSO, I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT MERGING THE SMALLER STATES INTO THE POD PAGES, AFTER TWO YEARS; THAT SEEMS TO BE THE EASIEST.
A WORD ON WHAT APPEARS TO BE DUPLICATES ON THE PAGES. THESE ARE UV OR MOLD VARIATIONS. I AM NOT GOING TO PULL THESE OUT AT THIS TIME. SHOULD THIS BECOME A NEGOTIATING FACTOR AND THE BUYER ONLY WANTS JUST ONE CHIP AND THE UV’S AND MOLDS MATTER NOT, THEN I WILL REMOVE THEM AND ADJUST THE PRICE ACCORDINGLY.
FOLKS, MANY OF THESE CHIPS ARE ALIVE, AND STILL BEING USED ON THE TABLES TODAY. SHOULD YOU BE NEAR BY A CLUSTER OF CASINOS FROM ANY PARTICULAR STATE, YOU PROBABLY CAN COME OUT AHEAD. ALSO, PLEASE KNOW THAT I CONSTANTLY OVER THE LAST 12 YEARS UP GRADED. I BOUGHT ANY NEW CASINO ISSUES WHEN THEY COME OUT FROM THE LOCAL CHIPPER THAT OFFERED THEM FOR SALE ON THE CHIPBOARD. THANKS FOR TAKING A LOOK-SEE…REGGIE
THIS IS IN THE FAR OFF FUTURE, BUT IF ANYONE HAS AN OPINION, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR IT. I AM GOING TO LIST SOME FORMATS OF WHERE TO SELL BELOW. PLEASE LMK AT YOUR CONVENIENCE WHICH YOU THINK WORK THE BEST FOR YOU OR EVEN A COMBINATION OF FORMATS OF WHERE TO SELL. PLEASE SEND ME YOUR IDEAS.
HERE THEY ARE:
• E BAY
• CHIPBOARD
• AUCTIONS
• CONVENTION(S)
ALONG WITH THESE BASIC SALES OUTLETS THERE ARE WAYS OF PACKAGING THESE VALUABLE PIECES OF CLAY TO SELL. SUCH AS:
• INDIVIDUAL CHIPS
• SETS OF CHIPS
• LOTS OF CHIPS (GROUPS, LARGE OR SMALL)
• COMPATIBLE CHIPS
• LIKE DENOMINATIONS
Thanks for reading this, and any pointers on the subject. Reggie

SET OF THE DAY
BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
I AM REDUCING PRICES ON MOST OF THESE SETS, SOME WILL BE FACE VALUE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND WANT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IN SENDING ME AN EMAIL, PUTTING A SOLD SIGN ON THE CB IS NOT THE WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR PURCHASE OR TRADE. SEE POD FOR P/H RATES. SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR ORDERS OR QUESTIONS…Reggie
