Re: Balboa & dollar at par: The U.S. dollar is the official currency of Panama; they do not print their own banknotes. They issue their own coins, though - in sizes and values identical to U.S. coins. Their coins were minted by the U.S. Mint at one time, but I am not sure whether they still are.
