When the neighbor was putting in a concrete driveway (replacing cinders, wow that's something old?) I buried a 6" lead, Hopalong Cassidy under the edge, next to our kitchen window. He's still down there, but if someone ever replaces the driveway, maybe their will find him?
Had a coin bank buried in the back yard. Dug it up.
Maybe it's time to get the metal detector up and running again and go visit the old neighborhood.
Back to the OP, I see these (not this one specifically, but often Roman Coins) at the auctions that I go to in the Winter months. Always looking for that chip find! Now reading "London" by Rutherford and he mentions that because of the coin shortages, many are counterfeits. Sounds like the 1860s in the US.
