Brian,

The policy was drawn up years ago when we were getting the ChipGuide going. My goal is to protect the images used on the ChipGuide to allow us to continue to use them in the future. When an image is submitted to the ChipGuide it almost always needs to be edited. It has to be straightened, cropped, color and/or light corrected, and resized according to ChipGuide standards. That is work the ChipGuide Admins do and I want their work protected. I do not want to take ownership away from the submitters, I just want continued use of the image. We may have to reword the Usage Policy to reflect what we really need to do. Does that make sense?

An ebay user SHOULD be using their own scans...
No question about it, but many use stock images
