I personally think there are a lot of collectors that started with currency in one form or another. When I was 8, my grandmother gave me my first set of Whitman folders for lincoln cents, nickles and dimes and sadly I now think back about some valuable coins I had at one time that were not important as much as a comic book or slupee. For the next 15+ years I did not do anything with them until I moved to a smaller town and re-found a love for collecting them again. But, like others, my interest soon moved to casino chips and tokens from the various casinos in Nevada I would visit now and then and was a lot cheaper to walk into a casino and get a few chips for face value than the coins I really wanted.
So for the last 5 years I have been collecting the tokens and chips and rarely have anything to do with coins. I have seemed to pass that bug onto my son who I encourage to add to his collections. If I did collect wet chips I would give you all the information I have but I stick with Nevada only (except gifts and when I go on trips) and would be glad to answer any questions there if you decide to broaden your subject matter.
