While Electric cars are not for everyone, my son has a Chevy Volt and is very happy with it. He can drive to work, run a few errands and back home a couple of times on a single charge. Don't know what he has to pay for the electricity but he says it is cheaper than gasoline.
I bought a used 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid at auction because it was cheaper than a regular Fusion. Guess a lot of people were concerned about the battery and the resale value may not be as good as a gasoline Fusion but that is okay with me as I normally drive my cars till the wheels fall off. Yeah, I know it is not a plug in but the battery is recharged when braking and/or using the gasoline engine.
Although I did not buy the car for the gas mileage I find that I am getting around 45 miles per gallon. Now using about 10 gallons of gas a month as compared to 35 gallons with my old Dodge Intrepid.
It may not make economic sense to buy a plug in electric now I think they are here to stay and with improvements in technology they will soon become more acceptable.
Happy motoring and keep on chippin'.
