I think Arrow Club came in later than Acme Club, unless it was a different cardroom in the same building. Arrow Club had a small sign on the back of the building still visible up to several years ago. Yeah. I was there, walking around! Hollister is the nearest "big" city to my campsite. The building sustained earthquake damage over the years - understandable since Hollister is built atop the San Andreas fault. Took a big hit in the early 1980's.

Once, having noticed a surveyor carefully marking Fifth Street near the County Courthouse, I approached and said to him,
"I don't know why you bother. In a few weeks, an earthquake will hit again and your measurements will all be wrong." He looked at me and laughed, "Job security, man!"
