Hello!
Since I'm no longer very active, I realize that many people on this forum don't know me so as a brief introduction I've been involved in the hobby & a club member for well over 20 years. Other than the Prodigy/Compuserve sales, I was the first chip dealer to build an ecommerce website and sell newly released chips online back in 1995. Although my "reign" was brief, at one time I was in the mid-90's I was likely selling more chips than anyone and prominent players have given me the credit for introducing them to our great hobby when they stumbled onto my lasvegas-chips.com website. I've served on the audit committee for close to a decade, wrote many articles for the magazine and was your convention chair back in 2011. Now I'm hoping I can get a simple but HUGE favor from you...
After close to 20 years I sold the assets of my Cheques in the Mail, Inc chip biz back in 2014 and went back to school to become an Elementary Special Education Teacher. Last year was my first in this new career. As school starts this year I have worked hard on my classroom that houses 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade kids with physical, emotional and learning disabilities. A local car dealership has sponsored a Classroom Decoration contest for the thousands of teachers in the Las Vegas School District. 131 have entered including myself. Should I be fortunate to place, I have vowed to take every penny of the cash prize and invest it back into my classroom with much-needed Chromebooks and tablets. My school is severely under-funded. The four computers I presently have in my classroom are circa-2002 when my school was opened. New technology will help bring my classroom up to speed, help me be a better teacher and ultimately help serve the kids that I care so much about.
When it comes to my kids I'm not above groveling. As much as it makes me uncomfortable to post here and ask for a favor, you can help me very much by taking a few seconds of your day, following the link below and voting for my "Under the Sea" classroom. It should be the first one you see. I've worked hard all summer on it so I would like to think that it could legitimately win but at the same time another teacher with a larger social media presence than I, could easily swoop in and take the prize since awarding the winner by vote becomes a popularity contest. Should you wish to "share" the link found next to the vote button I would be immensely grateful but know that just your vote is very appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and as always Happy Chippin'!
