in the 1940- thru 2000 my dad then family had a old rustic cabin in Idlewild, Ca. at small mountain town in So. Calif. 5,250 ft. in 1947 I went with our family I was 10 yrs. old we often went to the large three story Inn , with a large lodge type front room, a huge fireplace, a nice restaurant, and rooms. off the main room was a small hall to phone and restroom, next to the phone was one .05 slot machine, I would wait till no one around and put 5-6 nickel's, fun for a kid, can't remember if I ever won did it for a few years. I learned slots were illegal in Ca. but no Sherriff in town, and Riverside county sheriffs hardly ever came up the mountain, maybe looked the other way. In those day's no crime, or problems. Maybe this started my gambling career?
