In the past couple of years, maybe about 4 or 5 times I have been discussing poker with people..either on the greenfelt or on one of the forums I am on, and someone will mention they collect $1 chips from all the poker rooms they have played at.

I have told them about the club..given them links to The Chipboard, etc.

But I don't think anyone has really followed-up on my recommendations, despite their initial enthusiasm.

I think a lot of people just like to collect chips on their own as souvenirs, but don't really care to go any further in the hobby.

Having a new, flashy (and expensive) website won't really make much of a difference, IMO..
