The opposite is also true a chip in Doug last sale booked for about 100. sold for over 2K , go figure .The way I see it is if someone is trying to fill a hole in his (her) .collection and it's rare , book value doesn't count .And if the chip is available not rare or a LE -- DISCOUNT from the book . I also look at how long the place was in business ,if short lived chips could be hard to come by .At the convention I picked up a couple of chips I have been looking for for a dozen years or so .They were in that huge stack of binders ,they wanted book value for them and I was happy to pay that .Would have paid more .
