If the outer ring had been cleaned or exposed to bleach or something - the hats and canes in the yellow areas should also show discoloration. But they don't (at least in the scan). Nor is the Rider on Horsie inlay design seemingly different in color from normal. Maybe a "floor sweeping"? I'll have to go ask Alice when she's ten feet tall!
