This hobby lost one of the purists. If you posted something that was not 100% accurate, Gene was there with the correction, and in the briefest way that he could comment.

What was obvious was his love for the illegals! I have a HUGE album, filled with illegals, and virtually everyone of them has a Gene Trimble story with them. Granted, Gene often had research help from his many friends (ALL of whom he referenced in his articles) but it was his love of the hobby that allowed him to piece together bits of information into an article or two.

His own personal experiences as a dealer and then Manager of several notable cardrooms, gave him the perspective to know what was truth vs. what was BS.

I only met Gene twice but both times he stood tall, answered a question briefly, and then moved on!

I love the line he often used in his articles, "If you've got a trader, cough it up!"
