Perhaps the chips were sent to the people in Oroville who owned the club in Chilcoot and that's how they got to be associated Oroville. I think gambling was pretty common in the little towns close to the Nevada border. The next little town back down Hiway 70 - Beckwourth - has a little bar that still has a blackjack table in it - not in use though. They had a sign that told about all the gambling that went on there back in the day. The chips on the table were just generics though. Chilcoot seems like it would be too small and too remote to have much of a club - but they did have railroad folks and sawmill workers so who knows.
