Thanks for the info. Tina & I were out there this year also. We crossed paths in a few places. Waffle House is everywhere. We like La Quinta for a hotel chain they all take dogs. Best Western is good also, but they charge extra for the dog. I agree it is a wonderful country to visit. Here are few of our favorites

20+ mile backup on I40 with no alternates. It started at 7:30AM with a semi spilling Haz-Mat, then finding a murder-suicide in the traffic. It took us 3 hours at 6:30 PM. It was finally cleared at 8:30 PM. Google is wonderful, that is why we knew what is happening.
