The Mother Load of San Antonio Illegals

Im going to start this by saying things have not been going to well for me. Health issues with my 24 yr old son have deteriorated, my own health is questionable and I have yet to see a doctor about it, and I was let go from my job as a production superintendent. Im a believer that the bad things that happen in our lives are part of the process which makes us stronger, so while all this is going on, I'm spiritually stronger than I've ever been. And because of that, I've remained focused on what's truly important... chip collecting!

Just kidding

This past Friday, a local antiques dealer gave me a call and asked if I could meet him Monday morning because he wants to clear out one of his storage units. We both love San Antonio history so some of the things he has in his units are of historic significance and he wanted help from someone who knew to treat everything with care. After we were done, he offered to pay me for my time and help, I refused. So he asked if he could give me a gift as a thank you. I thought, "A gift from a lover of San Antonio history... I can oblige!" I agree and start looking around at some of the original Old San Antonio photographs wondering what he had in mind. He walks over to a bin on the floor cover in dust and what looks like rat urine spotting to lid and says, "Help me with this, this is for you." He pulls the lid up and the damn thing is FILLED with poker chips! Some I already have in my collection but the bin is filled with chips! Some in manufacturers boxes and a couple of empty racks.

I had to pull over to write and share this story. I'm not even home yet so I still haven't opened and gone through the bin yet, but before I left he says, "I'll call you next week. I have about another 1200 chips for you." He also asked me to keep a lid on what's in the bin for a couple of months so I won't be able to share much more than this story for now. My immediate goal is to get home and change my shorts because I may have soiled myself.

Have a great day!
