Well here we are. The road less traveled has come to an end, at least for now. There are a few things that we learned on the road that we wanted to share:
If you like your potatoes scattered, smothered and well done then you need to find your Waffle House before you get to Houston and wait again until you hit Indiana. Seems like Waffle House is not East of the Mississippi;
There are an inordinate number of large crosses in these United States, which makes me believe many people in this great country have a strong belief in God;
If you are going to spend 5-6 weeks in a car with someone, you need to make certain you not only like the person you are with, but you love the person sitting in the car next to you;
If you travel back roads, you want to make certain you have plenty of food and drink in the car, you may go for hours without seeing a place to find food;
This is an incredibly big country and we have made it to a very small part of it;
If you decide to go on a road trip and be away from home for 5-6 weeks you want to plan plenty of time to visit family and friends because it makes the trip even more special when it can be shared with loved ones;
Indiana seems to have the friendliest drivers and Georgia, in particular Atlanta is always under construction;
If you are in Arizona and find yourself in the need of a laundromat don't be alarmed if you see people wrapped in sheets, Apparently they have showers in the laundromat for the hikers and they can get ALL of their clothes washed at the same time.
If you find yourself traveling a lot, Best Western Plus is actually a very nice place to stay, BTW they also have washers and dryers which prevents you from running into the guy in the laundromat potentially losing his sheet.
Last but not least, the number one thing I learned on this trip, going away and traveling is always fun, but coming home is even better.
Thank you all for being a part of our trip, we hope you enjoyed it. Just an FYI, we are not done yet, We made plans to visit the Roadside Attractions in Florida, spoiler alert, there are 5 Muffler Men in the greater Tampa area alone. So this is not the last you heard from us!!!
