NCR Journey on

Hey Everyone,

I am a little delayed as we had the holiday and some family time which slowed me down.

Well we hit the mother lode of the strange and unusual the other day. There is a small town in Illinois by the name of Casey. It is known as the little town with big things. Basically what they have done is made of niche for itself by constructing large and unusual objects. For example the largest golf tee, the largest mailbox, the largest rocker, the largest pitchfork, the largest wooden shoes, the largest wind chime, ruler etc. The town has basically recreated itself with these items. It is fun to watch the people come into town and try to find the items. They have signs all over the town directing you where to go. Most of the items it makes sense as to here they put the items. For example the pitchfork is out by a farm that is also a restaurant, so they get you out thereto see the pitchfork and you buy some food or produce. The knitting needles and crochet hook are in a gift shop. People were buying all kinds of stuff in there. What is interesting is there are requirements to claim the world's biggest. In order for the knitting needles to claim the title of the world's largest, someone had to knit with them. Each needle weighs 25 pounds and they were required to cast 10 stitches with 10 rows.

They are in the process of building, the world’s largest gavel, teeter-totter, rocking horse, golf club and boomerang. If you are on I-70 and see the sign for Casey, it is definitely a get off and go and see.
