The Good:
I hadn't attended a convention in a few years, and I really liked the new location. The bathrooms and water dispenser in the convention room were nice additions. Seeing people I have only e-mailed or read on this Board was a lot of fun. I didn't purchase many items, but did pick up a Million Dollar Display item I hadn't seen before..a Binion's MDD Horseshoe soap variation I wasn't familiar with..thank you Jim Sarra!
The Bad:
My wife and I had been in Vegas the entire week before..her for a conference, and me for poker. The crazy 117 degree heat most of the week, the constant blasting dry air conditioning and 12-16 hour poker days took a toll on me. I guess I'm not as young as I used to be. On Thursday morning, I was only at the convention for about an hour before I had to leave for a poker tournament. I intended to return on Friday, but I wasn't feeling that great, and took the day off to rest. I wish I had more time at the convention. Next year, I will plan to stay at the South Point. As much as I love staying on the Strip, it is definitely advantageous to stay at the site hotel.
The Lucky:
This trip, we stayed at the MGM Signature and I took an Uber to the convention, Thursday morning. I wanted to get there by 9:00 am since I still had to pick up my registration packet, and I wanted to get there early for the "Preview Hour". The driver made really good time, and I found myself at the South Point before 8:30. With a half hour to waste, I decided to play some nickel video poker to pass the time by. Then in less than 5 minutes, I hit this:
Not bad for nickels.
Resulting in:
That hit sure did help pay for my 9 days in Las Vegas. Thank you Michael G. and the South Point!
Next year, I will plan to enter my Million Dollar Display collection in the convention.
As always, if anyone has any rare or unusual MDD items to sell, please e-mail me a scan, and I will respond quickly whether or not I already have the item.
Thanks and thank you to the CC & GTCC show volunteers!
