..after a few tense minutes with Archie at the registration desk.
I came prepared with two armed guards just in case -- and gave Archie a piece of my mind when it became clear that an apology would not be forthcoming!
I circled the convention room with the guards shadowing me. I found a congenial atmosphere and dismissed the guards.
I had fun meeting nice folks and looking at casino memorabilia - - there was a plesant and friendly group on the convention floor.
A few folks commented on yesterday and were generally critical of the way I was treated. When I gave Sheldon's wife the admission fee and two valid IDs there was no way that I should have been refused admission. Absolutely no way. It was totally inexcusable. The convention chair should have had the moxie to overrule HLM-001 and avoid a manifestly inappropriate and unfair situation. I've been kicked-out of better places over my 70+ years, but never under such utterly incomprehensible circumstances!
Today I bought a few fun items from dealers on the convention floor. I also met some of my friends and enjoyed South Point. I even hit the craps table for a few hundie.
Kudos to the show organizers and the folks on the convention floor.
Suggestion for '18 - - why not keep Arch in his cage next year, put a friendly person on the admission desk and appoint a capable cognizant convention chairperson who is prepared to make appropriate decisions that treat people fairly?
