Hi Everyone sorry for the lack of communication but things have been a little crazy. Last time I sent out any communication we had arrived in Sedona. What an incredibly beautiful area. One might ask what cheesy roadside attractions are in Sedona. Well it is home to the only McDonald's in the world with no golden arches. The arches are a teal color. No one can tell me why the golden arches are teal and not Golden. Several other interesting factoids about Sedona. It might be the second place in the world my husband considered divorcing me. The first place was while we were zip-lining in a Costa Rican rain forest, another story for another time, just say Fred was not happy, and this time while we were taking a gentle jeep tour through the red rock country. Let me advise you of something, if you plan on taking a jeep tour through the red rock country you may not want to have had 2 glasses of wine before you book the tour. Reading the fine print is always advisable. Needless to say it was a little rough. We also went to see a chapel that was built into the red rock, not to be confused with the Cathedral rock. Apparently in Sedona they have little to do so people sit around and name rock formations. There is the Bart Simpson, Coffee Pot rock, which I think looks more like a chicken, lizard rock etc. Suffice it to say lots of rocks in the area. Also we came upon a skeleton driving a motorcycle. According to legend, this was on the roof of the motorcycle shop. The city fathers of Sedona thought it was tacky and made the business take it off the roof. It was then in the parking lot and of course did not get the deserved attention. The owners of the business put it on a pole and called it art and no issues at all.
We also went to Prescott for a day trip and ran into a Muffler Man. I am learning from my roadside attraction app that there is a whole cult of people that travel to see Muffler Men all over the country. Not sure the whole background but will try and find out the history. We also went to the statue of "Big Pioneer Woman holds headless snake". AKA The not-so-gentle tamer. Hey girls it just shows, as we all knew, we are just a strong as the men. And then the day ended with a well deserved glass of wine!!!
I will send another post regarding getting our kicks on Route 66. We left Sedona and once out of Flagstaff we got on Route 66 and once again there were sights seldom seem.
