A $1 Hustler chip fell onto the left-hand edge of Vermont Avenue near the casino. Shortly thereafter, the Gardena Public Works Department came by and painted a yellow stripe down half of the chip. The half not covered turned black from exposure to sunlight. After myriad cars and trucks ran over the chip, the paint cracked, and I was able to liberate thechip from its unusual prison, while dodging oncoming traffic.
