THE MONTE’S CLUB CHIP EXPERIENCE:
POSTED ON THE CHIP BOARD

Hello Chippers!!
I had a most exciting morning!!! I stopped at a garage sale this am in Fernley, NV - 30 miles east of Reno. As I entered the sale I heard a woman say, "how much are the casino chips?. The response was, "$20.00".
I had to investigate. I approached the buyer and new owner and asked to view the chips in the box she was holding. She had about 80 of the chips. I asked if she would like to sell the entire box for $50.00 and she said, "NOT FOR SALE". At that point, I started to beg for the purchase of just one - she agreed and sold me ONE for a reasonable price. I returned to the sale person and asked about the box of chips. She told me the daughter of the man who owned and ran the small bar, Monte's Club in Winnemucca, NV, had found the box of chips in her father’s home after he had passed away. She stated she thought the bar was operated during the 1940's but didn't seem certain.
I couldn't wait to get to my car and look the chip up in the Chip Rack - Not there. Had to get home to see if the chip was listed in the CHIP GUIDE. Yes, thanks to Eric Rosenblum CG 061911, it was there.
I suspect we will see the box of chips on E-bay or posted individually. I saw at least 75-80 of the exact chip I am showing here in uncirculated condition.
What do you think the value of that chip is based on the information provided? I would appreciate your opinions.
Hope you enjoyed my adventure!
Thanks!!

Hello Chippers,
In late July of this year, I posted my chippin’ experience at a garage sale in Fernley, NV. I just missed the purchase of a box of Monte’s Club .25 chips with a value code of Z-1. I obsessed about the chips for weeks!
Last Monday, 9-15-14, as I was surfing the internet, I clicked on E-Bay for some unknown and unusual reason. I searched for Monte’s Club chips and BINGO, there they were. I won the bid on Wednesday, 9-17-14.
This entire experience has been surreal!!

Hello Chippers,
In 2016, I drove to Winnemucca, Nevada to investigate the history of this wonderful chip. I very much enjoyed the conversation with the Administrative Assistant of the Humboldt Museum, Jerry Leon.
I learned that Monte’s Club was also a brothel and was located on Main Street. “Nevada Golden Age of Gambling” by Albert & Woods Moe mentions Monte’s Club in Chapter 11
I released only 12 of these chips in 2014 at $100, hence “LUCKY DOZEN” Group 1. All 12 sold for $100 in 2014.
I released only 12 of these chips in 2015 at $110, hence “LUCKY DOZEN” Group 2. All 12 sold for $110 in 2015.
I released only 12 of these chips in 2016 at $120, hence “LUCKY DOZEN” Group 1. All 12 sold for $120 in 2016.
I will have Table #41 at the convention along with Quintin Kamm. I will accept orders via email or at table #41. Stop by and say hello! Can’t stand the wait – I’m ready!!
The .25 Monte’s will be offered ONLY to Club members – $130.00 for 2017. LUCKY DOZEN MEMBERS (prior purchasers) may purchase an additional chip for their original purchase price.
Sincerely,
Curt Squires R-7683
