AOL Desktop is something I was no longer able to use once I
switched to a Mac. I couldn't get updates. etc.
When I had dial-up back in 2001, i paid to use AOL. A few
years later, with DSL, I began using the free AOL. I have
not heard anything on updates there. When I switched to
a Mac, I learned that AOL Desktop wouldn't update and
stopped using it.
Unless you download the update, they cannot charge you. I
would suggest you call them and ask about the free AOL.
