A GUEST AUTHOR’s HARVEST STORY

FANTASY SPRINGS INDIO, CA

By: Steve Gobel

Got the Free slot play card... Went to the Pai Gow table first. Surprise, won the first hand at $15. Bigger surprise, they refused to pay me!
Something about Tiger 9 that I'd never heard of. If the dealer's hand is Pai Gowed, and they have a 9 to put in the two card hand, then all bets are a push. Say What! That sounds like 3 card monte on the street corner. Oh, I've got a blue Chicago so I win. I asked them to show me where that rule is posted. Nowhere, it's just part of the game. How the hell am I supposed to know that? Well there is the Tiger 9 bet on the layout just above the Fortune bet. Fine, Wonderful. Where does it say that a side bet circle on the layout changes the play of the game? You've got a computer screen with the Fortune Bonus Payouts listed, along with the Progressive payouts, but no mention of the payout for the Tiger 9 bet. "oh, it's 30 to 1" How would I know that? Pit boss went to her podium and got a little rules card to give to me. A bit late now. Title of the game on the computer is Progressive Pai Gow Poker. It does not say Tiger 9 Pai Gow poker. Nowhere is there any mention of it. The dealer did not inform me of it. PAY MY WINNING HAND! "Sorry I can't, that's the way the game is played" says the pit boss, after admitting that there must be 50 different versions of Pai Gow Poker,(really?), and that it's the players responsibility to ask if they don't understand the game. The dealer is telling me that it's no different than 3 card poker where if the dealer doesn't have an opening hand there are no payoffs. Ok but it says that right on the layout. This whole Tiger 9 thing is just a way for the casino to weasel out of paying winning hands when the dealer has a cruddy hand. It's lower and more underhanded than going from 3 to 2 to 6 to 5 for a blackjack. I grabbed my chips and ran out of this clip joint. So, no TITO from here. I wouldn't give these corksoakers 99cents of my money to get one!

PERSONAL HARVESTING STORIES

CHUKCHANSI GOLD CASINO

By:RICHARD “REGGIE” GUMMER

CHUKCHANSI GOLD CASINO IS ABOUT 30+ MILES NORTH OF FRESNO CA. ON THE SAME HIGHWAY THAT WOULD TAKE YOU TO YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK.
SOME OF YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE RUNNING GUN BATTLES THAT TWO OF THE FACTIONS WITHIN THE SAME BAND OF INDIANS; THAT OWN THE CASINO, WERE TRYING TO SETTLE THEIR DIFFERENCES RIGHT THEN AND THERE. APPARENTLY THE STATE HAS STEPPED IN AND MANDATED THE SETTLEMENT OF THE TWO WARING BANDS OF INDIANS. AND THEY HAVE REOPENED, THIS IS RECENT HISTORY.
WHEN NANCY AND I WENT UP THERE IT WAS A HOLIDAY TRIP DURING THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO. WE HAD A NICE HOLIDAY VISITING WITH MY TWO BOYS AND MY GRAND CHILDREN WHILE EVERYONE WAS IN FRESNO.
WE HAD MADE RESERVATIONS FOR ONE NIGHT THERE AT THE CHUKCHANSI GOLD. WITH PLANS TO HIT THE FOLLOWING CASINOS: BIG SANDY RANCERIA (MONO WINDS), TABLE MOUNTAIN CASINO, CLUB ONE & THE 500 CLUB.
WE REALLY LIKED THE HOTEL AND CASINO, AND I DID VERY WELL WITH HARVESTING, BUT NOT SO WELL ON GAMBLING END. THE HARDEST CHIP TO SCORE WAS THE $3 DROP CHIP AND YOU HAD TO SWEET TALK THE POKER ROOM CASHIER, SHE CAME ON DUTY AROUND MIDNIGHT. SO BY THE TIME I HARVESTED THE $3’s I WAS READY FOR BED.
IT WAS A SUCCESSFUL TRIP ALL AROUND. AND ON THE WAY HOME WE TOOK THE LONG WAY AROUND BACK THROUGH PORTERVILLE, AND HIT EAGLE MOUNTAIN CASINO. THEY HAD NOTHING NEW, BUT WE GOT A COMMEMORTATIVE CHIP, I DID NOT HAVE.
I DID NOT GET ENOUGH DROP CHIPS AT CHUKCHANSI GOLD. IT WAS ANOTHER WONDERFUL HARVESTING OUTING WITH A LOT OF SIGHT SEEING AND VISITING OF FRIENDS AND RELATIVES. REGGIE

A PAIR TO DRAW TO

I am always trying to put things together that have some semblance of balance. Of course, that will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some of these may attract you the collector a little or a lot, no matter which way it attracts, please know I am always trying to help you out, with items you want at price that is fair. For now, I am going to do them every week, but as an unscheduled surprise feature…Thanks for looking. Reggie

If you have some ideas about compatible pairs please send them in to me. If it is possible and I happen to have the two, they will be put on the docket...reg

CHIP TIPS FOR CHIP COLLECTORS

CHIP TRADING THE SHORT VERSION

10 QUICK POINTS

#1) Try to be an equal partner in the trade, do not make one party of the trade do all the work.
#2) I try not to do lateral trading. In other words; I do not like to trade any chips I only have one of for another chip I do not have any of; and I have it in my personal collection already.
#3) Commons for commons, Current table chips for current table chips, new racks for new rack.
#4) Denominations should be handled the same as commons, in most cases a $5 chip for a $5 chip.
#5) The obsolete group…these have to be traded based on the Guides valuation. And/or the asking price.
#6) It is always up to the two people that own the two chips that want to trade; to be satisfied with the trade. It is a trade when it is mutually acceptable to both parties.
#7) I prefer to trade with CC-GTCC members, because of the honesty of this group is impeccable. I do and have made trades with non-members.
#8)Try not to send severely nicked, damaged, or extremely dirty chips.
#9) A trading policy, is usually never the same with any two chip collectors, try to briefly explain your trading policy up front as soon as possible, in order to circumvent any surprises.
#10) Always let the trading partner know when you receive your chips.

SET OF THE DAY

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN. AND WHEN I STARTED DOING “A PAGE A DAY” I INCLUDED BETTER SETS AS A CATEGORY.
BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
I AM REDUCING PRICES ON MOST OF THESE SETS, SOME WILL BE FACE VALUE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND WANT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IN SENDING ME AN EMAIL, PUTTING A SOLD SIGN ON THE CB IS NOT THE WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR PURCHASE OR TRADE. SEE POD FOR P/H RATES. SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR ORDERS OR QUESTIONS…Reggie
