Several miles past Kelso is a road to the lava tunnels. These are actual large spaces inside the lava rock that are big enough to walk thru. Caused by trapped air when the lava cools. The road is a bit rough and the tunnels are several miles from the main highway, but an interesting trip.

The road leads back to the tunnels near the base of the mountain upper right.
