I think it should be shown in the original state, perhaps with a link to 'what it would look like'
IMO showing any digital impression is completely misleading. The guide should represent what exists, not what might exist.
Otherwise, as others have pointed out, you might as well photoshop every color of everything, just because they were supposedly made, even though they might not have been. Then the whole site becomes meaningless.
