Defining your collection for a new chipper

Background: I've only been chipping 1.5 years, I'm trying to define by collection habits which I'm sure many of you eventually got to the point of doing. I have over 5,000 chips from almost every aspect of collecting. I'm also diligent about keeping track of them on a computer program (collector's assistant) so I'm organized which I found out early on can get out of hand fast.

I've sort of settled on older higher value chips and chips of higher denomination. Most from either the Midwest or from Vegas. As an avid card player I've also picked up a few odd\flashy chips that I can use as card guards and strike up conversation on the felt. I'm considering focusing on smaller casino's with fewer chips so I can get them all and move on when I'm able too.

Any advice or mentor-ship in this category. I'm not at the point of spending triple digits on a chip but would only do so with advice and more experience then I have at this point. Although I think I'm catching on quick and see the "market" of chips all over the board with the age of internet and finding opportunity.

And yes I'm hoping to attend my 2nd CC>CC convention this year to add to that "experience" part grin
