Hey "Cousin Reggie,"
In all the years I've harvested chips, I've never played a card game in a casino! That changed tonight, and here's the story:
An Indian casino in the San Diego area (we won't name) offered a couple of $5 No-Cash-Value chips so I went down there and got a voucher for them in the usual manner, at the player's club counter. But, when I went to the Pit Boss to redeem the voucher as I've done on past occasions, he took the voucher and said I must be seated at a table, playing, before he would give me the chips. Maybe he recognized me from past visits. Or was just a grouchy Pit Boss. Trapped. I sat at the only Blackjack game in his area. I then realized it had a $15 minimum, rather than a $5. Threw down a $20 and got four regular $5 chips. Pit Boss came over with the 2 NCV ones, dealer at first handed them to the player next to me, then realized his error and gave them to me. I put them in my pocket, and bet with 3 of the house chips. Dealer scowled and tossed me two cards. Two Kings. He tried to beat me, got only piddling cards and came up with 18. I heard him hiss, "Damn!" and he was obliged to pay me $15. Dealer asked why I didn't bet with the two NCV chips, I said I figured they were "lucky chips." I took my $35 in chips off the table, said "See ya," and left. Dealer was still muttering under his breath and the Pit Boss was shooting daggers at me with his eyes.

THE ISLE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE POKER VENUES IN SOUTHERN FLORIDA. IT IS ACROSS ALLIGATOR ALLEY AND NORTH A FEW MILES. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE NANCY AND I WILL GO UP THAT WAY. THIS PARTICULAR TIME NANCY HAD SEEN HER FAVORITE DOCTOR IN WESTIN, FL. AND WE WERE GOING UP TO PALM BEACH AND STAY OVERNITE AND HAVE BREAKFAST WITH ED AND PATTI NORRIS. NANCY LIKES THE SLOTS THERE AND I LIKE THE POKER ROOM; SO WE STOPPED FOR A BREAK BEFORE PROCEEDING ON TO PALM BEACH.
I FOUND A SEAT RIGHT AWAY, AND HAD SETTLED INTO THE GAME, AND WAS DOING PRETTY AVERAGE WITH MY HANDS. THIS IS A SURPRISE I HAD NOT ANTICIPATED BEFORE I HAD SAT DOWN. WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY INTENSE HAND I WAS ON A DRAW WITH AN ACE SOMETHING SUITED, AND 4 OF THE SAME SUIT ON THE TABLE, WITH AN OPPONENT TRYING TO BET ME OFF MY DRAW; I WAS REALLY BEARING DOWN AND THEN THE RIVER CAME WITH WHAT I WAS DRAWING TO. BINGO! THEN OF ALL THINGS THE GUY THAT WAS DOING ALL OF THE BETTING SAYS LOOKING STRAIGHT AT ME NICE HAND REGGIE…I WAS DUMBFOUNDED, WHO IS THIS GUY? IT WAS AL ONE OF MY FAVORITE DEALERS FROM THE COLORADO BELLE IN LAUGHLIN, NEVADA. I JUST DID NOT RECOGNIZE HIM, BUT HE REMEMBERED ME BECAUSE HIS MOM AND I USED TO PLAY AT THE SAME TABLE IN LAUGHLIN. SHE APPARENTLY HAD A HOME IN POMPANO PARK AND IN LAUGHLIN. AL WAS ON VACATION AND VISITING HIS MOM.
WE HAD A BIG LAUGH AND A NICE TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. I PICKED UP SOME OF THE NEW PAULSENS THAT THE ISLE HAD STARTED USING IN THEIR NEW HOLDEM GAME. CANNOT REMEMBER WHAT THEY CALLED IT. BUT, IT IS NON STOP ACTION.
I DID GET ENOUGH CHIPS THIS TIME, AND IF I DIDN’T; I WILL BE BACK…REGGIE

BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
