thanks Charles...

I have also been to as many antique stores as I can find (and safely make it to) There are a few vendors who have chips, but most of them are way overpriced for my comfort level. Also...we came on a holiday week.
Got here Friday (Good Friday) and most stores and restaurants are closed.
Saturday we went to Vin Del Mar by bus... took the metro for 40 mins then bus for 1 1/2 hours. The Casino didn't have any older chips, so I only got a 500 peso chip as I already have the other current from last year.
Sunday was Easter...again EVERYTHING was closed. Chileans take holidays very seriously.
Monday I went antiquing. Picked up a few chips.
Tuesday..Danica worked and her co worker dropped me off at Monticello on the way.
Wednesday...is National Census Day. ALL Chileans are ordered by law to stay home for the census count. Because in previous years there were not enough people participating. (About 10 % of population) There are a few exceptions... some police, fire and other emergency personnel, some service workers like our hotel will have 20% of the staff working because of the foreigners.
Cool thing is....when the census people come, ask the questions...they put a sticker on your front door and you can then leave your house. I don't know how it's going to work with restaurants or taxis. This is the first year the law was put into place. Again Chileans take holidays seriously. They won't work tomorrow if they can get away with it. 😀
