The Gardena card rooms used to charge time - every 1/2 hour.
But that was a LOOOONG time ago, when they offered draw & lo-ball only.
The games were self-dealt by the players too, with deal rotating each hand.
If any player-dealer was too chatty -- slowing up the game -- you'd hear "Shut up and deal!" Time is money!
