A GUEST AUTHOR’s HARVEST STORY

TORTOISE ROCK CASINO TWENTY-NINE PALMS, CA

By Steve Gobel

This place is not where you'd run into it by accident. My guess is that it is 95% locals playing there. Late in the afternoon there were 2 poker tables going strong with nothing but stacks and stacks of green chips. Every player must have had several hundred in the game.
Not bad for a casino in the middle of nowhere on a Thursday afternoon. Joining the slot club got me a Spotlight 29 casino card (same Ownership). A $10 table games match play coupon, and $10 in free slot play. I hit the Pai Gow table and won the first hand. $20 up and I ran. One of the payout chips was a GO chip, and not in bad shape for 2 years old. Played a Video Poker machine for my free play and cashed out $7.50. Then hit a penny slot for the TITO and quickly ground down $1 to 1c. All in All a nice little joint to stop in if you're in the neighborhood.

Even if you do not have the denomination or mold shown, you should know that it is possible that I may need other denominations or molds from this casino. Please email me with any items that you would like to sell or trade. Please make your request for trade and the price you would like for this item. Thanks, Reggie

PERSONAL HARVESTING STORIES

LIGHTHOUSE POINT GREENVILLE, MS

By:RICHARD “REGGIE” GUMMER

LIGHTHOUSE POINT IS LOCATED IN GREENVILLE, MS. NANCY AND I WERE ON THE WAY TO HOUSTON OVER A THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY. SO WE HIT ALL OF THE RIVERBOAT CITIES ALONG THE WAY TO NEW ORLEANS AND WEST.
WHEN YOU BOARDED THE LIGHTHOUSE POINT CASINO, YOU HAD TO NEGOTIATE SEVERAL CATWALKS AND WALKWAYS. IT WAS QUITE A LITTLE TRIP FROM THE PARKING LOT TO THE RIVERBOAT ITSELF.
THIS PARTICULAR MORNING, LITTLE DID I KNOW; BUT I WAS IN FOR A SURPRISE. THIS WOULD BE MY SECOND AND LAST VISIT TO LIGHTHOUSE POINT CASINO. BECAUSE, 2011 IT BECAME THE TROP CASINO.
BY NOW FOLKS SOME OF YOU HAVE BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO MY DESCRIPTIONS OF MORNINGS IN THE CASINOS. THIS IS WHAT WAS HAPPENING, THE CRAPS DEALER AND BLACKJACK DEALER KIBITZING, THE PIT BOSS READING THE PAPER AND DRINKING COFFEE. PICTURE THAT, BECAUSE IT WAS EXACTLY THE WAY I REMEMBER IT WHEN COMING ABOARD THE LIGHTHOUSE POINT CASINO.
I WALKED UP TO THE CRAPS TABLE AND ANNOUNCED THAT I WOULD LIKE TO BUY SOME CHIPS FOR MY COLLECTION AND TRADING WITH OTHER COLLECTORS. THE TWO DEALERS LOOKED AT EACH OTHER THEN LOOKED OVER TOWARDS THE PIT BOSS WHO HEARD IT WHAT I SAID AS WELL, THEN; THEY ALL SMILED. THE PIT BOSS SAID I JUST BROUGHT OUT SOME UNUSED ONE DOLLAR CHIPS AND PUT THEM ON THE TABLES EARLIER THIS MORNING. I SAID CAN I HAVE 20 OF THE $1 CHIPS AND A COUPLE OF THE COMMEORATIVES. THEY SAID IT IS YOUR LUCKY DAY. I WAS IN AND OUT OF THERE IN LESS THAN A HALF AN HOUR. I STUCK AROUND AND TALKED THE HOBBY AFTER I HAD BOUGHT THE CHIPS. USUALLY IT IS THE OTHER WAY AROUND. YES, I DID GET ENOUGH CHIPS THIS TRIP. AND I STILL HAVE A COUPLE OF THOSE MINT $1 CHIPS…REGGIE

A PAIR TO DRAW TO

I am always trying to put things together that have some semblance of balance. Of course, that will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some of these may attract you the collector a little or a lot, no matter which way it attracts, please know I am always trying to help you out, with items you want at price that is fair. For now, I am going to do them every week, but as an unscheduled surprise feature…Thanks for looking. Reggie

If you have some ideas about compatible pairs please send them in to me. If it is possible and I happen to have the two, they will be put on the docket...reg

INCONSISTENT PRICING

EVERY NOW AND THEN I HAVE A DIFFERENT PRICE ASSIGNED TO THE SAME CHIP IN A DIFFERENT FORMAT. PLEASE KNOW THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS THAT CAN CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. WHILE TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS, I WILL TRY NOT TO CONFUSE YOU.

THE FIRST AND FORMOST REASON THIS OCCURS IS BECAUSE OF THE LARGE INVENTORY I AM TRYING TO MANAGE. RIGHT NOW I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 4000-4500 CHIPS IN MY (SELLING/TRADING) INVENTORY.

THE SECOND REASON THAT TWO PRICES FOR THE SAME CHIP CAN TAKE PLACE IS THAT I HAVE THEM DISPLAYED ON MY “PAGE OF THE DAY” AND LISTED IN THE COLLECTION LIBRARY. TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH ALL THIS IS MORE THAN A FULL TIME JOB…IT IS A LABOR OF LOVE FOR SURE…LOL

ANOTHER REASON IS THAT ON THE PAGE OF THE DAY THE PRICE IS CONSTANTLY BEING LOWERED. THE SAME GOES FOR MY INDIVIDUAL CHIP DISPLAYS KNOW AS “HANG A SOLD SIGN” THEY ARE ON A REVERSE AUCTION.

ONE MORE REASON DIFFERENT PRICING OCCURS IS WHEN I DISPLAY THE “PICK SIX” AND THE “VERY VERY CHEAP CHIPS” THE PRICES ARE ALWAYS LOWERED; BEYOND FACE VALUE IN SOME CASES.

SOME OF YOU MIGHT BE AWARE THAT I KEEP MY SELLING – TRADING CHIPS ON AN EXCEL SHEET ON MY COMPUTER. THIS IS ANOTHER REASON THAT PRICING INCONSISTENCY CAN OCCUR. THE FACT THAT I HAVE AN EXCEL INVENTORY WITH APPROXIMATELY 6000 ITEMS DESCRIBED AND PRICED (BUT NOT NECESSARILY IN STOCK), IS TRUE. THE FACT THAT IT IS 100% ACCURATE, IS NOT.

AND FINALLY THE “FEATURE CHIP” , “A PAIR TO DRAW TO” AND THE “SET OF THE DAY” THAT ARE FEATURED WITHIN MY “PAGES OF THE DAY” POSTS ARE OFTEN DIFFERENT AND LOWERED BASED ON INVENTORY AMOUNTS AND A REVERSE AUCTION BASIS, AS WELL.

I HOPE I DID NOT CONFUSE YOU IN ANY WAY. THIS IS MEANT TO BE MORE OF AN APOLOGY FOR THE INCONSISTENCIES THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE NOTICED IN MY PRICING. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS…REGGIE

PS: SOME CHIPS I PAID TOO MUCH FOR. FOR THIS REASON THE PRICE BECOMES FROZEN SOME WHERE ON THE WAY DOWN IN MY REVERSE AUCTION PRICES…REG

POST CARDS FROM NEVADA

I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING POST CARDS FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND HAVE SOME PRETTY COOL ONES. THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A NICE THING TO DO; SHARING THEM. NOT QUITE READY TO START SELLING THEM. ( THERE ARE VERY FEW THAT I HAVE DUPLICATES THEY ARE FOR SALE AND WILL HAVE A PRICE ALONG WITH THEIR TITLES). THAT BEING SAID; SHOULD YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THESE BEAUTIES THAT IS NOT PRICED, FEEL FREE TO MAKE ME AN HONEST OFFER.…REGGIE

SET OF THE DAY

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN. AND WHEN I STARTED DOING “A PAGE A DAY” I INCLUDED BETTER SETS AS A CATEGORY.
BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
I AM REDUCING PRICES ON MOST OF THESE SETS, SOME WILL BE FACE VALUE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND WANT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IN SENDING ME AN EMAIL, PUTTING A SOLD SIGN ON THE CB IS NOT THE WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR PURCHASE OR TRADE. SEE POD FOR P/H RATES. SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR ORDERS OR QUESTIONS…Reggie
