Correct. After years of bafflement, botanists finally decided the Joshua Tree is more closely related to . . . lilies-of-the-valley. Go figure. The saguaro cactus, while not native to Nevada, might grow there if carefully tended. If Wilbur Clark actually had tall, branching cacti outside the Desert Inn, my guess would be that they were Cereus cacti which thrive in California and Nevada. I have quite a few of those in my garden. Cereusly!
