Last night, a happy experience at Ocean's Eleven in Oceanside.
Stopped in after a Chinese buffet next door and spotted some new, shinier $1 and $5 chips, so I bought a stack of ones to see them up close. They were indeed newer and shinier than the older $1 chips. Found six of the newer ones out of 20 dollar chips. But if it was a re-order, the design and coloration were the same as the older ones, so not a new issue. Just nice looking.
After pocketing the six "old new" chips and cashing in the others, I paused at a blackjack table just to watch the action (and to see if there were anything other than the old house $5 chips being played). A lady placed a $15 bet and won. She said, "Let it ride," and won again. She again pushed out all her chips, and hit blackjack. Her husband was standing behind her, marveling at her luck. Now she pushed out her growing stack of chips. The dealer was also incredulous asking, "Are you sure you want to do that?" "Yes," replied the lady, "I always let 'em ride, and tip well."
Well, I cross my fingers and, dang! - She beats the dealer again. We all applaud. Madame High Roller pushes out her stack and says, "Go for it." The dealer again advises, "Are you sure?" Well, she hits again, and again, and finally bets her whole
$150 stack. And, blam! Blackjack again!
I wouldn't try speaking in Las Vegas (you get kicked out for that) but the vibe here was congenial and casual, so I mentioned to the husband, "I'd cash in right about now." And the lady thought about it and said, "Good idea," and to the dealer, "Give me $100 chips, please." And she walked away with $300 - plus, not bad for a few minutes. But I almost had a coronary watching all this.

HAVRE MONTANA, NOTICE THE SPELLING; IT IS DERIVED FROM THE NORTHERN FRENCH CITY OF LE HAVRE. AS YOU SEE THEY DROPPED THE LE. I WAS BORN IN THIS METROPOLIS OF 12,OOO PEOPLE, IN THE LOCAL CATHOLIC HOSPITAL. THE SACRED HEART HOSPITAL. ENOUGH OF MY VITAL STATISTICS; P J’S IS ONE OF THE LOCAL WATERING HOLES WITH A RESTAURANT AND A COUPLE OF CARD TABLES AMID THE SLOT MACHINES THAT ARE SPRINKLED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING.
I WALKED IN THE CASINO AND JUST BEYOND THE BAR I SAW ONE TABLE OF HOLDEM ACTION. I CASUALLY ASKED IF THERE WAS A BOARD NOTICING THE TABLE HAD NO VACANCIES CURRENTLY. THE BAR MAID SAID YOU WOULD BE NEXT, AND THAT SOUNDED PROMISING SO, I SAID I WILL TAKE THAT NEXT SEAT. MEANWHILE I TRIED TO TALK TO THE BAR MAID ABOUT THE TOWN. I TOLD HER I GREW UP IN GILDFORD AND CAME TO HAVRE TO RAISE HECK, WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER. AND SHE SAID DO YOU KNOW THE GUY IN 3 SEAT, HIS NAME IS …….. AND I SAID I SURE DO. I DECIDED TO WAIT UNTIL I GOT IN THE GAME TO TALK TO HIM, IT WAS JUST AS WELL HE DID NOT WANT TO RELIVE ANY MEMORIES WE HAD. THAT WAS NOT VERY PLEASANT, BUT PEOPLE CHANGE AND SOMETIMES NOT FOR THE BETTER.
MEANWHILE, HAVING BEEN TO THIS PLACE BEFORE I KNEW THEY GUARDED THEIR CHIPS FIERCLY. ALSO, I FOUND OUT THE OWNER WAS SITTING IN CORNER BEHIND ME READING THE PAPER AND OCCASIONALLY TALKING TO A COUPLE OF OLD TIMERS. IT WAS GETTING LATE AND I WAS IN TOWN FOR A CLASS REUNION, I HAD LOT OTHER THINGS TO DO. BUT, BEFORE I COULD LEAVE I HAD TO SCORE A $5 CHIP, BUT; THEY WERE NOT IN PLAY AT THE TABLE, ONLY 50c & $1 CHIPS WERE AVAILABLE, I HAD MY TRUSTY CARGO PANTS POCKETS LINED WITH PJ’S 50c & $1 CHIPS ALREADY. THE DEALER SAID I NEED AN OK FROM PJ TO SELL THE 5’s. SO I GOT UP AND WALKED BACK TO ASK PJ, I TOLD HIM MY STORY, SAID I WAS COLLECTOR AND I WAS BORN & RAISED HERE, HE SAID OK ONLY ONE THOUGH…REGGIE http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=MTHVPJ

I am always trying to put things together that have some semblance of balance. Of course, that will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some of these may attract you the collector a little or a lot, no matter which way it attracts, please know I am always trying to help you out, with items you want at price that is fair. • THEY REALLY DO NOT KNOW THE VALUE OF THEM
• THEY ARE LOOKING FOR CLUES, COMMON LINKS, OR VALUES THROUGH THE REQUESTS THEMSELVES.
• THEY DO NOT WANT SCARE PEOPLE AWAY WITH THEIR HIGH PRICES
• THEY DO NOT WANT TO ATTRACT NON BUYERS
PLEASE SEND ME SOME REASONS SO THAT I AND OTHER CHIP COLLECTORS CAN BETTER UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS BEING DONE; THEREBY HELPING THE SELLER DISPENSE HIS UNPRICED ITEMS A LITTLE MORE EFFICIENTLY.

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN. AND WHEN I STARTED DOING “A PAGE A DAY” I INCLUDED BETTER SETS AS A CATEGORY.
BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
