Hi, Reggie,
Here is another chipping story, all true of course!
I had heard that it was difficult to buy a chip from the San Rafael Club in San Rafael; it was a small cardroom, limited hours, and management did not favor selling to collectors. Still, toward the end of one of my chip trips to the Petaluma area several years ago, I decided to give it a try. I had gotten the club address before starting my trip, which is fortunate because the 881 Club is not at number 881 on any street any more. My internet search led me to a brief history of the club, started by Pete Pellolio years ago.
Upon entering the building, I paused in the foyer between the bar and the cardroom to look at a portrait on the wall. Unexpectedly, a man came to the cardroom doorway and asked, "May I help you?"
"Is this Pete?" I said somewhat absent-mindedly, pointing to the portrait. "Yes," he replied, "Did you know Pete?"
"No," I replied, "but I heard he had started the club years ago, and kept the business going for many years, and was respected in the community."
"Want to play some cards?" the man asked.
"Actually, no; I was wondering if I could just buy a few chips, I collect them."
The man gave a non-committal look and then smiled. "We have a strict policy, no sales to collectors. But since you spoke so highly of my father, I can sell you a few."
My visit ended with a hearty handshake and a smile from the new owner, and his invitation to "come back any time." And a few of the elusive Club San Rafael chips in my pocket.
Sometimes, it pays to admire the artwork.
Don't have time to drive up to San Rafael to see Pete's portrait? I didn't know this chip existed at the time, but you can view it here: ChipGuide # CG 023545.

BIG SANDY RANCHERIA IS ABOUT 30 MILES NORTH OF FRESNO, CA. IT IS IN EXTREMELY STEEP TERRAIN, GOING UP THE WEST SIDE OF THE SIERRAS. WE HAD JUST LEFT TABLE MOUNTAIN CASINO, IT WAS RAINING AND OUR GPS DID NOT KNOW ANY MORE THAN WE DID ABOUT GETTING THERE. WE STOPPED AT A GAS STATION IN AUBERRY PROPER. WE GOT DIRECTIONS AND WROTE THEM DOWN WITH A MAP THAT WAS DREW BY THE GAS ATTENDANT.
THIS PLACE IS ONE OF THOSE PLACES YOU HEAR ABOUT OCCASIONALLY; YOU JUST CAN’T GET THERE FROM HERE. AND WE ALMOST DID NOT GET THERE FROM AUBERRY. AS WE EASED ON INTO THE PARKING LOT, WE LOOKED OVER THE BUILDINGS, ONE SECTION ADDED TO ANOTHER, SIMILAR TO THE WINCHESTER HOUSE IN SAN JOSE CALIFORNIA.
WE WALKED IN THERE, THERE WERE 3 PEOPLE THERE BESIDES THE ATTENDANTS. IT WAS A LITTLE BIT SCARY. NANCY IMMEDIATELY ASKED IF THEY HAD SLOT CARDS, SIGNED UP AND GOT ALL KINDS OF FREE STUFF. THEN SHE GRABBED ME AND WE DOUBLED UP. I NOTICED THAT THE GAMING TABLES MOSTLY BLACK JACK TABLES WERE IN A ROOM TWO STAIRS UP IN ONE OF THE ADDITIONS I MENTIONED, AND THEN OFF TO THE RIGHT WAS A CASHIER CAGE ON THE SAME LEVEL WHEN YOU WALKED IN THE CASINO.
FINALLY I COULD NOT TAKE IT ANY MORE I HAD TO ASK THE ROVING ATTENDENT IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO BUY SOME CHIPS EVEN THOUGH NO GAMES WERE IN PROGRESS?
SHE SAID I DON’T THINK SO. THEN I SAID IS THERE SOME ONE HERE ON SITE I COULD TALK TO? SHE THEN LED ME OVER TO THE CASHIERS CAGE THAT I HAD NOTICED EARLIER, THERE HAD BEEN SOME PEOPLE WORKING IN THAT OFFICE. THE ATTENDANT THEN CALLED OVER A LADY BY NAME THAT I DO NOT REMEMBER, AND SAID THIS GENTLEMEN WOULD LIKE TO BUY SOME CHIPS. THE CASHIER LOOKED ME OVER AND SAID WHAT WOULD LIKE? I BEAMED, AND GAVE HERE MY MONEY, SHE GAVE ME THE CHIPS. THIS CASINO IS CLOSED NOW. I DID NOT GET ENOUGH CHIPS THIS TIME…REGGIE

I am always trying to put things together that have some semblance of balance. Of course, that will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some of these may attract you the collector a little or a lot, no matter which way it attracts, please know I am always trying to help you out, with items you want at price that is fair. For now, I am going to do them every week, but as an unscheduled surprise feature…Thanks for looking. Reggie
If you have some ideas about compatible pairs please send them in to me. If it is possible and I happen to have the two, they will be put on the docket...reg

Hello Chippers, should you find yourself planning a trip to South West Florida. Please add a small trade session into the mix…would love to have a trade session with anyone that is in the Naples-Bonita Springs-Estero-Ft Myers area. Please give me a heads up, and a little warning and we will exchange phone numbers prior to the approximate date.
Of course, I am mostly interested in recent stuff, I only have a few high powered older chips to trade. But I have well over 4,500 different chips available for trade or sale.
LMK the dates and windows of opportunity for a little sit down trade session.

I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING POST CARDS FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND HAVE SOME PRETTY COOL ONES. THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A NICE THING TO DO; SHARING THEM. NOT QUITE READY TO START SELLING THEM. ( THERE ARE VERY FEW THAT I HAVE DUPLICATES THEY ARE FOR SALE AND WILL HAVE A PRICE ALONG WITH THEIR TITLES). THAT BEING SAID; SHOULD YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THESE BEAUTIES THAT IS NOT PRICED, FEEL FREE TO MAKE ME AN HONEST OFFER.…REGGIE

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN. AND WHEN I STARTED DOING “A PAGE A DAY” I INCLUDED BETTER SETS AS A CATEGORY.
BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
I AM REDUCING PRICES ON MOST OF THESE SETS, SOME WILL BE FACE VALUE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND WANT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IN SENDING ME AN EMAIL, PUTTING A SOLD SIGN ON THE CB IS NOT THE WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR PURCHASE OR TRADE. SEE POD FOR P/H RATES. SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR ORDERS OR QUESTIONS…Reggie

Starting 2016, I have listed everything I have (all of my excel inventory +) on the collection library trader/for sale. Of course, many of you did not know that my previous listings were items I had more than one of. Now, everything; even the ones I only have 1 (one) of will be listed. Please know; none of these are from my personal collection. One more important point while searching for chips on my CL site; there are two settings for viewing my chips. One is a simply a long, long list of pictures and descriptions. Two is by Country/City/State/Casino alphabetical. You may request to change this at any time. And when you do I will leave it on that setting for a couple of days, or whatever you request within reason, before I change to help another chipper’s request.
Follow This Collection Library Link To Approximately +/- 4500 Trader Chips >>>: http://www.collectionlibrary.com/Index.asp?EvApp=mls.5117&sPageName=MyTraders
This will cause more work for me, and along with that will be the possibility of more errors, and chances for items to slip through the cracks. So, I apologize in advance for the times I do not clear off a listing after it has been sold. Also, on the other side of coin, there will be times I will find a very nice item that I had forgot to put on the “Collection Library” when I first got it. And now I am listing it just when you started looking for it.
*On the subject of trading, please know: When you spot something on my CL Trader/For Sale list that you really want, I need to get something that I can put into my collection, also; or it will be a cash sale. Because, to take in trade something I will in turn have to sell, (that is already in my collection) requires me to work twice as hard to complete the original transaction.
The total amount of chips listed on this site as traders and for sale are approximately 4500. This of course will fluctuate up and down, however this number should afford most collectors looking for a piece to put in their collection at least an opportunity to see a few chips not often offered.
Thanks for taking your time to read over this post, Reggie
