Seven Mile Casino

Seven Mile Casino

It was a dark and stormy night. Well, night, so DUH, dark. Not stormy, so much as a heavy almost foggy mist falling so fast that you had to keep the wipers on high, even though there was not that much water involved. Navigating San Diego's freeways takes a bit of doing for the tourist on a bright sunny day. Midnight in the mist was ever so fun.

So anyway, I get to the casino (after driving right past it and having to make a U-ey) Checked out the place riding my scooter all around. Pleasing decor, friendly people for the most part. I setteled in at a Fortune Pai Gow table. $10 min bet, not bad. Couple of bucks on the Fortune bet and who knows what else. They play Pai Gow differently here than the way I was brought up on it. Jokers count as any card, not just Aces, Straights and Flushes. Wonderful! I've got Queen Joker + misc junk for my high hand and a pair of dueces low. Not looking too bad. Dealers hand was also 2 pair: Kings and Jacks. Taking my harvested chips and running fast ( as did another player at the table) I rode over to the cashier to turn in the extras that wern't going home with me.

He was not busy and seemed bored. I was able to start a conversation with him, and he sold me other chips that I'd not gotten from the table. (a $2 and a $10) He went through several chips in his racks and apologized for the condition: played quite a bit. I told him I was happy to have them anyway. Thank You! I asked if any commems or G.O. or other goodies that might be laying around. He told me of $20 chips that they'd ordered but not used much that were locked up in the vault, but no other special chips. We kept talking and I mentioned the MOGH and the ChipGuide. He went back to the cupboard and asked were there pictures of these in the ChipGuide:

So I quicky snapped the above picture. I guess he was not worried about a guy riding a scooter making off with the chips from his counter. This was the first time I've been able to engage a cashier in a conversation. Almost worth the loss at the Pai Gow (~buzz~ Not!) but a fun midnight trip nontheless.

P.S. I've submitted them to the ChipGuide!

And here are the chips I brought home:
