Do a service for the chip collecting community. I have never volunteered at the convention ( I might try to this year), so I feel like the research is my way of volunteering. I spend anywhere from 2-6 hours a day looking into card rooms.(on my days off...which are plenty lately)
I have had a few people in the past email me asking why I give all the info I work hard for away... I say "Why Not?" I was told I should write a book and charge for all this info....that would sell maybe 20-50 copies?? Not hardly worth the effort. I was told that someone else is already righting a book on California card rooms...there are way too many card rooms that are wrong ID's or wrong chips. That would be a tough feat because there will be plenty of people who believe false info is the right info.
Many years ago...before my chip collecting days....guys just put names of establishment with chips. Just to either sell an unknown chip or possibly to just say...I know where that is from. That was before some of the records came out. Because many of these ID's were done 20-30 years ago, they have become law. I have pointed out a few things I felt were not correct and was told I wasn't correct.
I would say that I have 50-60 new California card rooms with ID's in the works. I will leak them out here and there slowly...maybe 1 or 2 a week.
I know the next info is Nevada(not California)... But it has never been changed. The card that says George Perry is info from TR King.
Miles E. Cluster did exist...never in Northern Nevada. It was Calvin Custer. And his name wasn't originally Calvin Custer....it was (can't find the name... But I believe it was) Carlos Garcia. I will find it again and post it. But Miles E. Custer was just put into the chip because it fits.
I do appreciate your reply...please do not take my rant personally.
I know I'm still the new kid on the block..
