A HARVEST STORY BY A GUEST AUTHOR

A PENNSYLVANIA CASINO

By Carl Shalit

Have an interesting gathering story that I'll pass on to you.
Was on a trip through PA recently cashing in and gathering. The PENNSYLVANIA CASINO (Made up name) has a $3.00 drop chip that they told me several times in the past they could not let out. In fact, they told me that dealers/floors/cashiers had been fired for doing it (kind of severe but ....).
But I figured I had nothing to lose by trying!
I started with the floor and was told that the chips were not being used anymore and he saw no reason they couldn't be sold. After all, they were just sitting in the vault. I then went to the cashier and told her what happened. She asked the floor and he again said he saw no reason not to let one out. The cashier then called her boss who agreed that she could sell me the chip. I made it obvious that I was going to give her $10.00 for the chip so she went and got one. As we were completing the transaction, another cashier went by behind her and said that people had been fired for selling them in the past. I tried to explain that the firings happened when the chips were being used but they're just not being used anymore, that the floor and her boss agreed the chip could be sold, yadda, yadda, yadda.
The cashier pulled back the chip and said she just couldn't take the chance at being fired. She was all apologies (sincerely).
If you do include this story in your POD some Friday, please change the casino name to something totally fictitious "to protect the innocent". Don't know who reads the Chipguide and I really don't want to get anyone in trouble at this casino.
Carl

PERSONAL HARVESTING STORIES

AVI CASINO LAUGHLIN, NV

By:RICHARD “REGGIE” GUMMER

THE LAST VISIT I MADE TO THE AVI WAS BEST VISIT I HAD EVER MADE TO THE AVI.
NANCY AND I HAD STOPPED TO VISIT HER COUSIN CLAUDE IN BULL HEAD CITY ACROSS THE RIVER. WHEN WE GOT THERE WE FOUND THAT HE HAD TAKEN OFF ON HIS DAILY PILGRIMAGE TO THE AVI, USING THE BACK ROADS OF BULL HEAD CITY AND TAKING THE LOWER BRIDGE THAT IS RIGHT AT THE AVI CASINO.
LET ME EXPLAIN SOME THING RIGHT NOW, THIS YOUNG MAN OF 99 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS WAS STILL WORKING, STILL DRIVING, STILL PLAYING GOLF (TWICE A WEEK) AND STILL PLAYING POKER ALMOST EVERY DAY. OUR HISTORY GOES BACK BEFORE I EVEN MET NANCY. I USED TO GO TO LAUGHLIN ABOUT 4 TIMES A YEAR WHEN I LIVED IN CARDIFF BY THE SEA, CA. AND WHEN I WENT OVER THERE I WOULD STAY AT THE “BELLE” AND PLAY POKER AT THE “BELLE” AND I REMEMBER PLAYING AGAINST HIM FROM TIME TO TIME. A VERY COY AND GIFTED PLAYER. COME TO FIND OUT HE WAS A COUSIN TO NANCY. SMALL WORLD. THIS TIME HE WAS SITTING AT THE TABLE AT THE AVI AND I SAT DOWN NEXT TO HIM AFTER *SCOTTY GAVE ME THE GO AHEAD. THEN NANCY SNUCK UP BEHIND HIM AND GAVE HIM A BIG HUG; THOSE WERE SPECIAL MOMENTS.
JUST AFTER I SAT DOWN I NOTICE A CHIP, A NEW CHIP THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN, I IMMEDIIATELY ASKED SCOTTY ABOUT THIS. *SCOTTY WAS THE POKER ROOM MANAGER AT THE AVI, HE HAD BEEN A DEALER AT THE COLORADO BELLE; AND CLAUDE LIKED HIM A LOT AND FOLLOWED HIM DOWN (CHANGED HIS PLACE WHERE HE PLAYED POKER) TO THE AVI WHEN HE GOT THE MANAGER JOB. MEANWHILE SCOTTY EXPLAINED THEY JUST CAME IN TODAY THEY WERE THE WHITE CHIPS WITH THE 8 BLACK INSERTS. SO I HAULED OFF ABOUT 50 OF THEM TO TRADE AND SELL AT CONVENTION. THEY LASTED ME A WHILE.
SADLY THAT WAS THE LAST TIME NANCY AND I SAW CLAUDE. HE PASSED ABOUT A

MONTH LATER, WE WERE VERY HAPPY TO HAVE MADE THAT EXTRA EFFORT TO SEE AND

TALK TO HIM THAT ONE LAST TIME…REGGIE

A PAIR TO DRAW TO

I am always trying to put things together that have some semblance of balance. Of course, that will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some of these may attract you the collector a little or a lot, no matter which way it attracts, please know I am always trying to help you out, with items you want at price that is fair. For now, I am going to do them every week, but as an unscheduled surprise feature…Thanks for looking. Reggie

If you have some ideas about compatible pairs please send them in to me. If it is possible and I happen to have the two, they will be put on the docket...reg

ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE COLLECTION LIBRARY

Ordering instructions for the Collection Library are slightly different than ordering from the “Page A Day”. What this means is there is not a page name or chip number for you to simply order from.
From the Collection Library these are the most important things to remember; and this is the order of priority you should use when ordering (#’s 2,3, &4 are essential when placing an order):
• 1)Collection Library Casino Identification Number (Example: Harrah’s New Orleans #135)
• 2)Casino name and location (or area)
• 3)Chip Guide or (TCR) The Chip Rack Identification Numbers (If not given, then do the following listed below)
• 4)Give a description of the chip:
a) Denomination of the chip
b) Color of chip
c) Selling price of the chip (example $3)
d) Inserts (number of & colors) on the chip
e) Casino Logo on the chip

The easiest way is to copy the info and paste to the email you are making a request with.
This will make it easier for you the person interested and for me to process an order, and/or give you the correct information that you are requesting. Thank you. … Reggie

POST CARDS FROM NEVADA

I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING POST CARDS FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND HAVE SOME PRETTY COOL ONES. THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A NICE THING TO DO; SHARING THEM. NOT QUITE READY TO START SELLING THEM. ( THERE ARE VERY FEW THAT I HAVE DUPLICATES THEY ARE FOR SALE AND WILL HAVE A PRICE ALONG WITH THEIR TITLES). THAT BEING SAID; SHOULD YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THESE BEAUTIES THAT IS NOT PRICED, FEEL FREE TO MAKE ME AN HONEST OFFER.…REGGIE

SET OF THE DAY

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN. AND WHEN I STARTED DOING “A PAGE A DAY” I INCLUDED BETTER SETS AS A CATEGORY.
BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
I AM REDUCING PRICES ON MOST OF THESE SETS, SOME WILL BE FACE VALUE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND WANT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IN SENDING ME AN EMAIL, PUTTING A SOLD SIGN ON THE CB IS NOT THE WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR PURCHASE OR TRADE. SEE POD FOR P/H RATES. SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR ORDERS OR QUESTIONS…Reggie
