The email has little to do with the browser. I know this: if you double left click the email item in the email list, you get a big window of that email. If you click a link in the email, it will open in a browser with a new tab window.

I've never used the drop downs from the "Window" tab in my browser (Chrome). .. .... . I use the "File" drop down menu in my Chrome browser a lot: there you can get another (new) window, a new tab, an incognito window, etc. .. .... Hope this helps you.
