Just wanted to let those who tried to help me that I think I finally managed to solve my computer being out of memory. I kept eliminating programs to get 3-4 GB of free memory but after a few days it would vanish again. I tried expanding the size of my C drive but apparently MS won't let you do that to the drive with the operating system on it (even though I have 140 GB of free memory in D drive). Tried it every way imaginable but no luck.
I was trying to figure out where all of the memory went to but was not sure how to do that. I stumbled onto the fact that if you look at the details of the C drive in Windows Explorer you can right click on each item listed and go to properties and see how much memory is being used by that item. Found out that Windows had 63 out of 93 total GB on the HD. That seemed like way too much even for windows. I check my other computer and windows only used 26 GB - way more reasonable. So I spent an hour finding where in Windows my memory was at. By opening up the Windows folder I was able to do the right click thing and check the memory used in each of the 100 or so folders. I found that the logs folder and the temp folder each had over 15 GB of junk in them. I took a chance on screwing up my whole computer buy eliminating all of the filed in those folders. Now I suddenly have 25 GB of free memory. Yee haw! Sure wish I knew why those junk files were not removed when I did the disc cleanup ten times. Most of the junk was AVG download files.
