It seems that both the Gold Coast and The Orleans released their anniversary chips in the last week of 2016, which corresponds with their opening dates in 1986 and 1996, respectively. The manner of release appears to be an unadvertised, Player's Club promotion (B-Connected Club) for Table Games rated players that when they swiped their players card at a kiosk, they were offered the option to print-out a ticket for a free chip. It appears that the overall supply of chips were held in the cage to ensure that they would have plenty of chips available for those who took advantage of the promotion.
At The Orleans, at least 1 rack (100) of chips were released in this manner and if those came back into the cage, they were left in circulation. At the Gold Coast, it seems that quite a few were released in that fashion because it was not too difficult to obtain a couple of already circulated chips from the cage.
These chips are NOT branded as Limited Edition, so in adding them to ChipGuide, I have put them into the rack/house chip category. However, these chips were probably acquired from GPI in a quantity of at least 2,000, perhaps as high as 5,000.
