Well - here we go !! I sent out 9 packages of chips from my Valentine's Day Sale which contained 1 to 4 chips in a # 10 envelope with a cardboard mailer. These packages all weighed 2 oz. or less and should have cost a little less than $1.00 to mail - I put $1.10 of postage on all of these packages and ALL 9 WERE RETURNED TO ME FOR ADDITIONAL POSTAGE !! A scan of one of the envelopes is shown below. I tried to mail these packages from 2 different local Post Offices in two different towns with the same result.
I guess I can NOT going to get these 9 packages of chips out of the Great State of Delaware with out paying $3.66 each.
As I said in my post below the single chips sold for just $2.14 and the postage charges will be 1 1/2 times more than the value of the chip. A single chip will cost a buyer $5.80 to be delivered to there home in the US.
I will contact the 9 chippers and give them the option of returning there original purchase price and not mailing them the chips they ordered or charging them an additional $2.50 per order to cover the $3.66 shipping charges.
Both of these options "SUCK" but I have NO choice. I am NOT going to lose $2.50 per order to send out the chips that were ridiculously low priced to begin with - I would rather return the payments and keep the chips. I am not making anything on these goofy postage charges - I will merely be breaking even. I am truly sorry to have to do this and I apologize to everyone involved,
Take care,
Jerry "Totally Frustrated" Birl
PS - I got an email from a fellow chipper = one of the ones who bought chips from me - showing where he has sent chips from his local P.O. for as little as 71 cents and it only cost him $1.36 to send a chip to Belguim !!! I guess he is just luck to live where he does and get favorable postage rates.
