My father was a big collector of those things -- "plate blocks" of 4 unused stamps from the sheets of stamps, with the serial number. He'd collect "around the clock" (or "around the block") -- all the plate blocks of the four corners. Miss the guy.
He kept them in huge specially made volumes for the stuff.
