I wanted to share my project that I have finally finished this week - For those of you that do not know these chips were done by Richard T. Slone - He is a famous painter and he is the one that does most of the painting for the fights - He has his art displayed on posters / chips and other canvas reprints from the original paintings and these chips are from the last 10 years and none have been made so far due to the Casino's stopping them from being sold at the fights as people were trying to cash these chips in at the cages. LOL.
Well Here it is -- I have been working on this project for over 8 years as it has taken me that long to collect these chips and I have been told that I am the only one that has a complete set of these - I actually have 3 complete sets and I wanted to have one set to be used in this very unique and special project. I wanted something that was big enough to display the chips and also something that was never done before - So I thought -- Why not find a way to make a frame that looked like the outside of the casino chips -- At first, It seemed impossible - Glass was too big and I wanted it to be AntiGlare / UV / Museum Quality glass and finally found the plant that special cut this glass for me - The frame was made from a custom woodworking shop out of Texas and he did a great job on the frame -- Th frame was finished by a local custom shop that is know for his work nationwide and I wanted him to make the frame looked like the finish of the casino chip - He got it perfect - The stripes layout are on point and the diamonds on the side of the frames are just like on the chips - and he also did the PVC board and I wanted something that was unique and had a vision to display like shadow boxers throughout the display and he even put the Las Vegas Skyline behind Slone's Signature...Amazing details and at the same time no too loud so it does not take away from the focus of the chips being displayed - Everything was done to the highest quality and no expense was spared - Trust me I know this was alot to be done - But to me it was worth every penny.
I hope all you enjoy the Pics and any questions or if any of you want to have a book on this project being done - Please let me know and I will send you one for free - We are also going to make a book that shows this being done from the start to the end and it will also Talk about all of those that helped and were a part of this project .
Mr. Slone is very well aware of this project and has helped me along that way to help find these chips and has been so impressed with my vision. I have a number of his originals on display at my office and if any of you want to see pics of those are if it is appropiate I will display some of them here on the Chip Board - We are also working on another project directly with Mr. Slone that has been about 3 years in the making and will be done by the end of this year and the 2nd set of chips will be incorporated into that project -- The 3rd set is for me to keep --LOL and I am also working with Bob to get him started on getting him a complete set as he has helped me so much along the way with my collection of the Casino Boxing Chips as well as others on this board and elsewhere - I have alot of extra chips from some of these fights and if you are liking some of these are looking for a particular fight or chips - Let me know and I will see what I can do to get you one of them or a set of the one from that particular fight - I will sell my extra chips for a very low price -- Just let me know
Thanks to all and Enjoy the pics.
