Years ago when I used to send a newletter/offerings of chips over seas, I didn't have access to a £ sign on my typewriter and used an "L" in its place... Most purchases were over the phone and one collector, Richard Z, from the UK, asked where the "L" chip was from... and when I explained he couldn't stop laughing throufhout our whole conversation...
