I did come to you as an expert David, as a manufacturing expert. I thought I was contacting the owner of Classic Casino Chip Company. I got your email from the antiquecasinochips.com website with the mold design data on it I was researching and studying online. I thought I was contacting the owner of a newer company with a lineage that may have gone back to older companies and you might possibly had records regarding manufacturing of these chips, or sets like this in the past, from previous manufacturers: Burt Co / Atlantic Molding whom you may have obtained these records from. I had no idea you were involved with The Chip Rack, or ran the Chipboard, or would be spreading false information publicly regarding our conversations, in regards to your strange idea no paperwork provenance existed around the time I contacted you, and it mysteriously showed up later. That idea of yours is incorrect, and the way you handled this, and spread false suspicion on this publicly, especially with the timing, was a bit unprofessional I think.
You are definitely wrong about your assertions on the paperwork, it is incorrect of you to state as you keep insisting that the story was all word of mouth, until paperwork mysteriously appeared right before the auction. I don’t know why you are sticking to that so firmly. I know, as I have held that documentation myself for 15 years. I have explained why I never shared it with you, because I was researching old design history, and manufacturing records, and not looking for what I thought was a manufacturer to evaluate what I had.
You have been proven wrong about your public discussion of this on the forum all being after the Heritage auction ended, when that clearly was not the case. After your public assertion that the inlays are paper, you had some people convinced that somebody had simply glued paper discs on top of the chips, and had falsified the paperwork provenance to help fool people. Neither are the case of course.
Anyways, I hope this will all make us think a little, and we all learn something from this, and doesn't keep anybody from enjoying this fine hobby.
Happy Chipping, and Happy Holidays everybody!
Paul
