I don't think Heritage Auction can be held to blame, although if I ran that place I would pass on associating my company's name with this sale.

All it says (in part) is:

"According to documentation provided by the consignor, the chips were donated to a Dania, Florida thrift store by personnel of the JFK Compound in Palm Beach."

The underline above is mine. I guess they take the person's word.

Besides that, I don't think JFK's personnel would have the authority to sell/donate personal items from the President. The whole thing stinks.
